I love it. I have to make sure I feed it ammo that it "likes," and stay away from Federal bulk packs, unless I want to practice clearance drills a lot. Otherwise, it a fun little shooter.

Update: I took my Firestorm 22 to the range today and shot 50 rounds of CCI Blazer ammo through it with no hiccups at all. I also shot 11 Stingers. Man, those things roar, and they really throw a flame.

p-t take some of those Aguila Super-Maximum Hyper Velocity rounds next time! they're some "hot loads" for a .22. i've shot them from my Remington Nylon 66 and a .22 revolver with no issues at all, and you can surely tell a difference between those and bulk ammo! $9.50 per box of 50 these days.

I've toyed with the idea of getting one of the Firestorm 22s - I like the duotone model myself. But all the warnings about not using bulk ammo with them sort of defeats the purpose for me - being able to shoot for hours for just a few bucks of ammo.

If they require high-end 22 ammo that's almost as high as 9mm, it's not going to be much of a savings. I wanna be able to buy that 500-round brick and shoot all afternoon!

When my daughter allows me to shoot hers, I use cheap Winchester Super-X 40gr and have no problems at all.
As I recall, the Firestorm .22 does not like standard velocity and is ambivalent about rounds of less that 40gr.

Well, I've got good news: the CCI Blazer is bulk ammo. I bought two 525 round bricks for $13.49 apiece just the other day. I only shot 50 rounds in my FS22, since I was a little pressed for time, but I didn't have any issues at all. No duds, no light strikes, no failures to feed or extract or eject. They all fired and ejected flawlessly. CCI Blazer is my FS22 ammo of choice from now on, as long as I can get it. Very Happy

That is a deal! Good to hear it was worth it too. I know I'm not old by any means but I do remember being able to buy the Remington Gold Box 550 for $9.50 when I got my first 22

What is a good price for a firestorm 22? I really want one for target shooting. Shooting the 380- gets a little pricey after a while.

Locally, if you can find one, you can get it for $250-ish.

Looking at Davidson's Gallery of Guns (http://www.gungenie.com) I could have one delivered to my one of my local gun shops with all taxes and fees out-the-door pricing of $302.35.

Except for caliber it's the same gun: same size, weight and manual of arms.

There are subtle differences in the two pistols. The Firestorm 22 frame without the slide is heavier than the Thunder 380 frame. One reason is because the rubber grips are heavier than the polymer grips, and then the .22 barrel is heavier than the .380 because the bore is smaller. But the .380 slide is beefier, heavier, and stands up a little taller than the .22 slide. The combination of all of these factors makes for a pair of guns that are very nearly the same size and weight.
