| Looks like I will have a brand new Bersa Thunder UC 40 this weekend! Duotone model. I did have a question for you UC guys, I've not shot one but handled them...this will be a much shorter barrel (almost an inch) so I'm wondering how bad the recoil will be compared to my polymer SD? The bersa ways a few ounces more, but I can get quick follow up shots and double taps with the SD, I'm hoping that will be the case with the Bersa. Everyone I've seen do videos on etc, is 9 or 45. Not much love for the .40 crowd | |

| I've not shot the Bersa .40 but others who have describe the recoil as snappy whereas the .45 is more of a push. Since the "snap" is likely a product of the higher pressure in the .40, and with the Bersa being heavier than your SD, I'm guessing you'll not feel much difference. | |

That's exactly how I describe .40 vs .45. I'll own a .45 one day, but it will definatley be a 1911. I'm interested in seeing where the BP line goes with things

| Although I owned a Thunder .45 for a while, I didn't like it. Nothing against the gun itself, but I prefer hi-cap pistols. REcently solved that problem when I discovered the Taurus 845: 12+1 capacity in a very nice package. | |

REcently solved that problem when I discovered the Taurus 845: 12+1 capacity in a very nice package. The UC45 is too wide for my skinny hands. Yeah my SD that I'll be selling is 14+1.

| I've got a Thunder 45 UC Pro. Recoil is quite tame with it in my opinion, perhaps due to those fat grips that Calvin doesn't like. I don't find the width of the grips to be a big issue, but it's the front-to-back thickness of them that bugs me - distance from the trigger to the backstrap. It is a really accurate gun, and has been completely reliable for me so far through about 250 rounds. The only problem I have is that the white dot fell out of the front sight blade. I painted it back in, but then the paint came out the next time I took it to the range! Switched to a light-gray silhouette for the rest of the day so I could see the sight picture. That and it's the matte finish version, and mine has a truly poorly finished slide. I've been toying with the idea of sending the slide off to get it Cerakoted and seeing if the gunsmith ( www.CustomizedCreationz.com) would agree to install some Meprolight tritium sights if I sent them along with the slide. So not an answer to your question, but I think the Pro UC line is a heavy enough gun that you won't have too much issue with recoil in the 40 either. | |

| Let us know what you end up with. I don't personally have any experience with Sigs but I do know they are kind of expensive. I'm sure they're worth it but I've just never owned or shot one. | |

| I have had my Bersa Thunder Pro UC .40 for a couple months now and carry it every day. I like the feel of the pistol and find the recoil much more controllable than other pistols I have carried (Skyy 9mm, FEG 9mm Makarov, Ruger LCP). As you can see it is a larger caliber than others I have used and I think it is easier to shoot. The only thing I don't like is that the hammer bites the web between my thumb and forefinger. It doesn't really hurt that much, I just usually look down after several round and discover I am bleeding again. | |

I usually carry 180gr but due to the shorter barrel... I picked up some 165gr today to compensate somewhat for the slower velocities with the shorter barrel.
